Skincare. These magic bottled formulas that have the power to transform your skin completely. If we stop for a second to think about it, don't you think it is amazing what good skincare can do for the appearance of your skin?
This is if you find the right one!
For most of my life, I always remember struggling to find that perfect skincare routine that works for me. I still do, to be honest. But The Ordinary changed a bit my perspective on skincare.
Notice that I have been for the past 10 years experimenting products for my skin. I have tried it all! Affordable brands and not so affordable brands; and after all, I had this idea that I needed the more luxurious products to actually see results. But The Ordinary proved me wrong!
AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
When I first applied this product, I wouldn't think that it would do the wonders it did to my skin in only one application! The product claims to exfoliate the top layer of your skin and give a more even complexion.
Please bear in mind that this product contains a very high concentration of free acids and it's not recommended for sensitive, peeling or compromised skin. Also, it's indicated to not exceed the use of more than twice a week, accompanied by the daily use of sunscreen as it increases the sensitivity of the skin to the sun.
- First impressions
My skin after the first use felt extremely soft and smooth and my pores shrunk significantly. My skin overall looked more clear and even. However, I have been using this product only once a week as I feel like twice would make my skin too sensitive.
I will, without a doubt, continue to use this product and also repurchase it in the future!
This is a high pigment coverage water based foundation with SPF 15, available in 21 shades and 4 different undertones: Pink, Red, Neutral and Yellow. It is vegan and cruelty free, alcohol and oil free. Retail price at The Ordinary is £5.90 for a 30ml bottle.
- First impressions
Firstly, I ordered the shade 1.2N which is too light for me. But I still made it work sort of. I tried on its own and it seemed too matte for me. I personally prefer a more dewy finish even though I have combination skin. So instead, I have been mixing it with my Marc Jacobs remarkable as that one is a bit dark for me (needing some holidays haha).
For those who like high coverage with a matte finish, I would say this foundation deserves a try and for the price, you can't go wrong! It definitely compares to high-end foundations I tried in the past.
I am curious to try their Serum foundation once I finish my foundations I have got currently. In other reviews, it seems to be the right fit for me since it is a more dewy finish. It is also available in 21 shades and 4 undertones, with the price tag of £5.70 for a 30ml bottle.
Skincare acids and treatments
I have bought 3 different skincare treatments following the recommendation on their website, they have suggested regimens for specific skin types or skin concerns (see here). These products are definitely not an instant result type of skincare like the peeling for example. I have to use it for a longer period yet to make the correct judgment of them. However, I will state my first impressions on them together with prices.
- Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
Niacinamide or Vitamin B3 is indicated to reduce the appearance of blemishes and congestion on the skin, combined with Zinc to balance the sebum activity. Niacinamide can also brighten the skin tone. Please read full info and disclosure for this here.
This product as a consistency of a very light serum that dries quickly on the skin, leaving it feeling hydrated. Price per bottle of 30ml is £5.00.
- Argireline Solution 10%
This is a light weight serum that is water based and is also oil, silicone and alcohol free. It promises to improve facial areas prone to develop lines and/or wrinkles including the eyes area and forehead.
The consistency is again very light and watery, and like the niacinamide is absorbed very quickly on the skin. Price per bottle of 30ml is £5.50.
- Salicylic Acid 2% Solution
Salicylic Acid is a beta hydroxy acid that exfoliates the skin. This 2% treatment solution helps exfoliate the inside walls of pores to fight the appearance of blemishes and for better visible skin clarity with continued use.
This solution compared to the last two has a considerably thicker consistency but still light enough on the skin. It also dries a bit stickier also compared to the others but nothing major. Price per bottle of 30ml is £4.20 (how affordable!?).
Please note that all products in this post were bought by myself and in no way, I was influenced or paid to state my opinions or do a positive review.
